  • Weekly DVD Thread (for 23/10/00)`

Well, this is an AWESOME week for DVD fans.

    Tomorrow, we get:

    - American Beauty
    - The Patriot
    - U 571
    - Pitch Black
    - Transformers: The Movie (the original version, hooray!)

In addition, for us Anime lovers, the second EVA disc has been announced (November 21), and the new Bubblegum Crisis boxed set is out, and they seem to have fixed all the issues with it (beeping soundtrack, glitchy subtitles, et cetera)!

The next few weeks are great too, though - look at the releases coming up:

    - X-Men
    - The Perfect Storm
    - Gladiator
    - Titan A.E.
    - Fantasia/Fantasia 2000

    ----------------------

Anyway, my most recent purchases have been a blast as well - got the Toy Story Ultimate Toybox (so much extra stuff it'll make your head spin), and the Heavy Metal 2-Disc boxed set. Good stuff!

P.S. Oops! Almost forgot - Vampire Hunter D came out last Tuesday. Kickass!

I've seen "The Perfect Storm" in the cinema lately... it was not worth my money... I really regret I spend my money on it, and will not go to sneaks any more

"Stir of Echoes" was very good however (no sneak this time).

Stir of Echoes? Ugh! Sixth Sense was waaaay better .

Gurm, did you get one of the sets w/the R-rated movie cut into TS2? You can't tell me Disney employees don't do that stuff on purpose...

I'm jazzed for Patriot - missed that one in the theaters. I didn't care much for U571 on video - let us know if anything special is on the DVD.

Transformers?!? E-gads! Talk about blast from the past! Any chance of a G-Force DVD?

As long as you guys mentioned it, is there a single good website that tells the release dates of DVD's? I guess I'm retarded at internet searches, but I can't for the life of me find one....

BTW, does anyone know if the Jene Kelly version of the Three Musketeer's is available on DVD?

              Thanks for the help guys,

If you're interested mostly in mainstream and B-movies (no anime or obscure titles) then I use:
                http://dvd.ign.com

But there are others - dvd.com, reel.com, etc.

DVD on IGN like Gurm said is good. They cater their site for young males (chronologically and mentally) so it would be good for most of the MURC'ers.

For anime go to Anime on DVD. They are the best around.

I'm going to pick up Pitch Black tonight. I loved that movie. It has one of the best anti-heroes I've seen in a long time.
